Indonesian women’s national team demands PSSI to revive Women’s League

The Indonesian women’s national team failed to advance to the 2026 Women’s Asian Cup after suffering a 1-2 defeat to Taiwan in a qualification match at Indomilk Arena Stadium, Tangerang.

This failure — which placed Indonesia in third position of the group — triggered protests from players regarding the 6-year inactivity of Women’s League. Captain Shafira Ika Putri Kartini led her teammates in displaying a black banner addressed to PSSI chairman.

“Mr. Erick, when will Women’s League 1 be held?”

Before the protest action, the Garuda Pertiwi squad initially displayed a thank you banner while singing the national anthem Tanah Airku — but midway through the song, they replaced it with the banner demanding league organization.
