Indonesian volleyball team overcomes deficit to defeat Vietnam in AVC Nations Cup

Indonesia men’s national volleyball team — led by Rivan Nurmulki — achieved a dramatic victory over Vietnam in the 5-8 placement playoff match of AVC Nations Cup 2025 at Isha bin Rashed Hall, Manama, Bahrain.

The Red and White team won with a score of 3-2 after an intense five-set battle — with set scores of 23-25, 24-26, 25-17, 25-23, and 15-12.

Assistant coach Erwin Rusni shared important observations about his team’s performance.

“In the first two sets, I saw the players playing too casually. They seemed confident of an easy win, but Vietnam took advantage of this to apply pressure and take control of the game,” said Erwin.

A significant change occurred in the third set — the Indonesian team began correcting their mistakes and increasing focus on each point. Improvements were particularly made in serving and blocking defense aspects which became key to the team’s comeback.
