Indonesian volleyball team exits AVC Nations Cup after defeat to Pakistan

The Indonesian men’s volleyball team coached by Jeff Jiang Jie ended their journey at the AVC Nations Cup 2025 after being defeated by Pakistan in the quarterfinals at Isha Sport City Hall, Manama, Bahrain.

The national squad suffered a loss with a score of 1-3 (25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 17-25) — ending their hopes of advancing to the semifinal stage.

Rivan Nurmulki emerged as the top scorer with 20 points, followed by Doni Haryono who contributed 11 points. Meanwhile, Hendra Kurniawan and M Malizi each scored nine points.

“We couldn’t combine our attacks because our first ball reception wasn’t good. It was difficult to play with high balls because Pakistan’s blocks were very strong,” said assistant coach Erwin Rusni.

“Today’s performance is clear evidence of our players’ fighting spirit and unity. Defeating a strong team like Indonesia shows our readiness to compete at the highest level,” said Pakistan Volleyball Federation chairman Muqammad Yaqoob.
