JAKARTA, July 8, 2025 — Indonesia has double the reason to celebrate at the 2025 Pusaka International Junior Championship (ITF J60 Jakarta) after securing places in both the girls’ and boys’ doubles finals.

In the girls’ doubles, local pair Joanne Lynn Hartono and Gwen Emily Kurniawan are set to face a strong challenge from compatriot Abigail Elham and her partner Yeseo Park of South Korea. The all-Indonesian representation on both sides of the net guarantees a home victory in Sunday’s final at The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta.

Both teams advanced after displaying solid teamwork and strong court chemistry in their respective semifinal matches. The final is expected to be a thrilling contest between rising stars of Indonesian junior tennis.

“Kami senang bisa bertemu sesama wakil Indonesia di final. Tapi begitu masuk lapangan, kami akan tetap serius dan bermain maksimal,” ujar Joanne usai semifinal.

Boys’ doubles team continues host nation’s strong showing

Indonesia’s success extended to the boys’ doubles as well, with local pair M. Akmal Junaini and Michal Ihsan Wicaksana booking their place in the final. Representing the Kentoeng Tennis Academy Sukoharjo, the duo has shown grit and maturity throughout the tournament, overcoming international opponents with consistent baseline play and aggressive net tactics.

They will now prepare to face the top-seeded Taiwanese team Lin Hao-Yu / Yen-Chun Wang, a matchup that promises to test their composure and resilience.

Building momentum for Indonesia’s junior tennis

The back-to-back finals appearances by Indonesian players mark a significant step forward for junior tennis development in the country. The ITF J60 Jakarta is a key stop in the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, which provides international exposure for under-18 athletes.

With participants from over 15 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, and the United States, the tournament serves as a platform for young talents to gain experience and recognition on the global stage.

Sunday’s finals are more than just title deciders—they’re a chance to showcase the potential of Indonesia’s next generation of tennis stars.
