Indonesia U-23 tops Group A after defeating Philippines in ASEAN Cup

Indonesia U-23 national team secured the top spot in Group A of ASEAN Cup 2025 after defeating Philippines 1-0 at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, as reported by Bolasport.com.

Young Garuda’s winning goal came through Jaime Domingo Rosquillo‘s own goal in the 23rd minute — resulting from Robi Darwis‘s long throw-in situation.

Gerald Vanenburg‘s team now collects six points from two matches — having previously defeated Brunei Darussalam with a convincing 8-0 score.

“We first have to play against Malaysia. I’m not thinking about what comes next,” stated Vanenburg.

“We want to focus first on Malaysia. Malaysia is the most important thing right now for the players and supporters who come,” added the Dutch coach.

Indonesia U-23 only needs a draw against Malaysia — a match that will be held at SUGBK in two days — to secure a semifinal ticket.
