Indonesia U-23 team without friendlies ahead of ASEAN Cup 2025

Indonesia U-23 national team coach Gerald Vanenburg confirms that his team will not hold friendly matches ahead of ASEAN Cup U-23 2025, as stated at Madya Stadium, Senayan.

Indonesia U-23 national team, drawn in Group A alongside Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, and Malaysia — has been preparing since late June 2025.

Despite initial plans for friendly matches, these arrangements were canceled due to technical issues with opponent teams.

“None. We play practice matches among ourselves. 11 versus 11 every day,” stated Vanenburg to the media.

As a solution, the Dutch coach chose to optimize internal training with daily inter-squad match format.
