Erick Thohir, as PSSI Chairman, expressed his hopes for the Indonesia U-17 national team ahead of their quarter-final match in the 2025 Asian U-17 Cup.

The Young Garuda team will face North Korea at King Abdullah Sports City Hall Stadium, Jeddah — a match that could take them to the semifinals for the first time in 35 years.

“If they can make history and match their seniors from the 1990 Asian U-17 Cup by reaching the semifinals, that would be great,” stated Erick Thohir.

The team under Nova Arianto’s guidance has already made history by qualifying for the 2025 U-17 World Cup through the qualification route — an achievement never accomplished before.

With momentum and national pride on their side, Indonesia U-17 has the opportunity to solidify their status as a rising force in Asian football, aiming to break a decades-long semifinal drought and continue their historic journey.
