Indonesia U-17 team faces South Korea in Asian Cup opener

The Indonesia U-17 national team is set to begin their journey in the 2025 AFC U-17 Asian Cup with a challenging fixture against South Korea. The match will take place at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium, Jeddah, on Friday night at 22:00 WIB.

Led by head coach Nova Arianto, Indonesia is drawn in Group C, alongside:

  • South Korea
  • Yemen
  • Afghanistan

The match against South Korea presents a tough opening test for the Young Garuda squad, who are aiming to make an impact at this prestigious continental tournament.

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir, who also serves as Indonesia’s Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, has called on the Indonesian public to show strong support for the team:

“This is not just a match — it’s a proud step for Indonesian football. Let’s unite behind our young talents and support their journey,” said Thohir.

The AFC U-17 Asian Cup serves as a key platform for emerging talent in Asia, and strong performances here could open doors for future opportunities, including global youth tournaments.
