Nova Arianto, the coach of Indonesia U-17, apologized to the Indonesian public after the national team was eliminated from the 2025 AFC U-17 Asian Cup in the quarter-finals.

The Garuda Muda squad had previously delivered an impressive performance — finishing the group stage with a perfect record, defeating three tough teams:

  • South Korea
  • Yemen
  • Afghanistan

This achievement secured Indonesia’s qualification for the 2025 U-17 World Cup, but their journey ended in the quarter-finals.

Facing North Korea last night, Nova Arianto’s team suffered a heavy 0-6 loss, which highlighted the significant gap in playing levels.

North Korea’s fifth goal, scored by Ri Kang-rim in the 61st minute, was a clear indicator of the difference in experience at the highest levels of Asian youth football.
