Indonesia men’s volleyball team wins dramatic match against Philippines in SEA V League

Indonesia men’s volleyball team — playing at the Jakarta International Velodrome — defeated Philippines in the opening match of SEA V League 2025, Wednesday (16/7).

Coach Jeff Jiang Jie fielded an initial formation consisting of:

  • Boy Arnez Arabi
  • Jasen Nataniel Kilanta
  • Fahry Septian
  • Rama Fazza
  • Hendra Kurniawan
  • Prasojo

The match was intense with final scores of 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-18 — forcing the home team to play all five sets.

“Actually it wasn’t too difficult because we previously beat Philippines 3-0. I saw the players’ condition when trailing 1-2 hadn’t fully recovered,” stated assistant coach Erwin Rusni.

Rivan Nurmulki — who wasn’t in the starting lineup along with Farhan Halim — was finally brought in during the fourth set when the team was trailing 1-2. This decision was made despite Rivan not being fully recovered from stomach issues experienced during the first leg in Philippines.
