Indonesia Joins Race to Host 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has opened the opportunity for its member countries to host the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. Indonesia has now entered the race by expressing its interest in bidding for the event, which is scheduled for this October.

Arya Sinulingga, a member of PSSI’s Executive Committee, confirmed that Indonesia has officially submitted its candidacy to host this crucial stage of the qualifiers.

The first country to announce its interest in hosting the event was China, which has proposed several cities as potential venues, according to reports from Titan Sport.

The format for the competition will feature six teams that qualified from the third round, divided into two groups:

  • Each group will consist of three teams

  • Matches will be held at centralized venues

  • The competition will follow a round-robin format
