Indonesia’s Crisis Continues at Singapore Open 2025, Only Two Pairs Remain

The victory crisis continues to overshadow the Indonesian badminton team at the Singapore Open 2025, as reported in a release by PBSI. Out of five pairs competing, only two managed to reach the quarterfinals during matches held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Kallang.

Fajar/Rian rescue team’s chances

Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto delivered one of the few positive results by beating the Thai pair Kittinupong Kedren / Dechapol Puavaranukroh in straight games.

“Today wasn’t easy, the Thai pair are tenacious players who aren’t easily defeated. We benefited from Dechapol’s condition, who might have been tired after playing in mixed doubles,” said Fajar.

He added:

“His movement slowed down and with the windy court conditions, we forced ourselves to keep attacking and avoid long rallies.”

Pressure now on men’s and mixed doubles

With only two pairs left in the competition, Indonesia’s hopes now lie solely in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles events. This adds pressure on the remaining athletes to defend Indonesia’s prestige at the prestigious Super 750 tournament.
