Imola Dropped from 2026 F1 Calendar, Local Officials Remain Optimistic

In response to the newly released 2026 Formula 1 calendar, Marco Panieri and Michele de PascaleImola’s Mayor and President — have issued a joint statement regarding the circuit’s exclusion from the race schedule.

The 2026 F1 calendar announced today will include the new Madrid Grand Prix — displacing Imola while maintaining the total of 24 races.

“This is news we anticipated and naturally generates disappointment, considering that in recent years our territory has proven capable of hosting an extraordinary event with record-breaking attendance,” the statement reads.

Despite the 2026 exclusion, both officials emphasize this isn’t the end. The contract signed in 2021 guarantees Imola’s presence until 2025.

  • The municipality has allocated budget for 2026
  • Imola missed the 2023 race due to severe flooding
  • The circuit has been popular among fans and drivers

“Now is not the time for controversy and resignation — it’s time for all parties to take responsibility and continue discussions for a return to the calendar,” they added in their statement.
