Ibrahimovic criticizes Messi’s teammates at Inter Miami after Club World Cup defeat

Zlatan Ibrahimovic speaks out about Inter Miami’s 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 — the former Swedish striker defends Lionel Messi.

“It wasn’t Leo Messi who lost, but Inter Miami. Messi plays with statues, not teammates — they run as if carrying bags of cement,” said the former LA Galaxy player.

Ibrahimovic, who played alongside Messi at Barcelona, emphasizes — the Argentine star’s performance was not optimal due to lack of support from quality players at Inter Miami.

“This isn’t the Messi I know. If you put him in a real team, he’d go all out. There are no coaches, no stars, not even players who understand how to move without the ball,” Ibrahimovic stated.

Despite the heavy defeat, Inter Miami made history as the first MLS team to defeat a European club in official competition after beating FC Porto 2-1 in the group stage.

Messi himself responded positively — “It was the game we expected. We tried to do the best possible and left a good image at the Club World Cup level.”
