Ian Maatsen made an impact on his Netherlands national team debut, scoring a crucial goal in a 3-3 draw against Spain in the UEFA Nations League quarter-final second leg at Estadio Mestalla.

Spain took an early lead in the 8th minute through a Mikel Oyarzabal penalty. Memphis Depay equalized from the spot, but Oyarzabal restored Spain’s advantage with his second goal.

In the 79th minute, Maatsen—a defender of Javanese descent—scored with a precise strike from the left side of the penalty area, curling the ball into the top right corner to level the score at 2-2. The match extended into extra time, ultimately ending in a 3-3 draw.
