Huang Ya Qiong still dominates Chinese national tournament after retirement

Huang Ya Qiong, former world number one mixed doubles badminton player, proves her class remains intact despite retiring from international competition about six months ago.

The player who previously partnered with Zheng Si Wei led Zhejiang Province team to victory in China’s Mixed Team National Championship 2025 — an achievement demonstrating her abilities haven’t diminished.

In this tournament, Huang collaborated with two young players:

  • Shen Xuan Yao – 2022 World Junior Championship bronze medalist
  • Liao Pin Yi

Partnering with Shen, Huang contributed to Zhejiang’s victory over Beijing to secure Group C title — followed by an impressive performance in the quarter-finals resulting in a 3-1 win against Fujian.
