Hu Zhe An, an 18-year-old Chinese badminton player, claimed a strong victory in the Malaysia Masters 2025 qualifying round held at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur.

First game: Narrow win under pressure

The world number 91 defeated local contender Kok Jing Hong, ranked 78th globally, with a convincing scoreline of 22-20, 21-11.

In the opening game, Hu Zhe An surged ahead with a comfortable 17-9 lead. However, Kok Jing Hong launched a comeback, leveling the score at 20-20. Despite the pressure, Hu responded calmly and secured two consecutive points to take the set.

Second game: Commanding control and composure

The second game saw Hu fully in control, capitalizing on Kok’s errors and maintaining a high tempo throughout. He wrapped up the match decisively at 21-11, marking an impressive start to his Malaysia Masters campaign.
