Horner Confirms Verstappen Stays at Red Bull Until 2028

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner strongly denies speculation linking Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen with Mercedes team — calling it “a lot of noise.”

Mercedes had previously chosen Andrea Kimi Antonelli to partner George Russell for the 2025 season, but rumors of Verstappen’s move have resurfaced for the following season.

“It’s a lot of noise. Max gets quite annoyed by it. We’re very clear with the contract that we have with Max until 2028,” Horner told Sky Sports.

Meanwhile, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff acknowledges that the chance of acquiring Verstappen — at least for 2026 — is “very little probability.” On the other hand, Russell, who just won the Canadian Grand Prix two weeks ago, is still waiting for his contract extension, with rumors of interest from Aston Martin team.

“I can imagine that George is frustrated he hasn’t been given a contract yet. But that’s between him and his team,” added Horner.
