Honda drama at Dutch MotoGP: Mir crashes, Espargaro misses points

According to GPOne, Honda HRC team experienced a disappointing day at the 2025 Dutch MotoGP — their riders failed to achieve maximum results.

Joan Mir was involved in an incident with Gresini rider Fermin Aldeguer, ending his race on the seventh lap. Meanwhile, Aleix Espargaro finished outside the points zone right behind Somkiat Chantra, who was substituting for Luca Marini.

“I see it as a difficult and very sad situation for both parties,” Espargaro stated regarding the contract dispute between Jorge Martin and Aprilia.

“If there’s a clause allowing him to leave and he doesn’t want to stay, I cannot understand his partner’s position who wants to keep a rider who doesn’t want to be there.”

Espargaro — now Honda’s test rider — admitted his race was challenging with excessive vibrations on his bike. He decided to let Chantra pass him on the final lap after running wide at turn 12.
