Under the guidance of coach Herry Iman Pierngadi, Malaysian doubles pair Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik secured the 2025 Asian Championships title at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center.

The world number 6 pair defeated Chen Boyang/Liu Yi with a score of 21-19, 21-17 in the final match — ending Malaysia’s 18-year title drought since Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah’s victory in 2007.

This achievement marks Herry IP’s first success since joining the Badminton Association of Malaysia in February — after not being included in the PBSI national training coaching lineup this year.

“First of all, I want to thank BAM for trusting me to guide the Malaysian men’s doubles pair,” Herry stated.

The victory also serves as a momentum boost for Malaysia ahead of the 2025 Thomas Cup, where Chia/Soh are expected to play a key role in the team’s pursuit of glory.
