Hansi Flick discusses Barcelona’s main goalkeeper competition

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is facing a dilemma over the team’s first-choice goalkeeper position following Marc-Andre ter Stegen‘s recovery from a patellar tendon injury.

The German goalkeeper suffered a torn patellar tendon in September last year during Barcelona’s 5-1 win over Villarreal, forcing him to stay out of action for a significant period.

To cover for him, Barcelona signed Wojciech Szczesny outside the transfer window in October 2024. The goalkeeper, who had previously announced his retirement after his contract with Juventus ended in June 2024, is now temporarily filling in for Ter Stegen.
