Hans Zimmer creates F1 film score in collaboration with Lewis Hamilton

Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer has completed the score for the new F1 film — a special collaboration with seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton.

Zimmer — known for his phenomenal work on Interstellar, Gladiator, Inception, and The Lion King — worked closely with Hamilton, who serves as executive producer on the film starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris.

“Being a European, I was probably more familiar with F1 than most Americans because it was always part of our culture. Much of the inspiration and what I was doing came from conversations with Lewis — it was like he was always sitting beside me when writing,” Zimmer told Variety.

The relationship between these two figures began about 5 years ago, when Hamilton visited Zimmer’s studio and documented their first meeting. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, just held its world premiere in Times Square — attended by several active F1 drivers and team principals.

The F1 film will be released internationally on June 25, followed by North American screenings two days later.
