Hamilton questions Ferrari strategy at Austrian GP despite fourth place finish

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc secured third and fourth positions for Ferrari at the Austrian GP. Despite the solid result, Hamilton questioned the team’s pit stop strategy over the radio.

Jerome d’Ambrosio — standing in for Fred Vasseur due to personal reasons — explained that the chosen strategy was optimal. With both Ferrari cars positioned between McLaren ahead and George Russell behind — the team implemented the most logical standard strategy.

“From a driver’s perspective, their question is always ‘Is this the best? Can we do something else?’ They’re Formula 1 drivers, that’s what they should do,” stated d’Ambrosio.

Hamilton ultimately acknowledged the team’s correct decision after the race:

“I didn’t know how many laps were left at the time. Though the pace wasn’t great, I felt I could continue. But ultimately, I think it was the right decision.”
