Hamilton Loses Front Row Start at British GP Due to Turn 16 Error

Lewis Hamilton will start the British GP from fifth position — an error at Turn 16 cost him a chance to start from the front row of the grid.

Ferrari showed improved performance following their upgrade in Austria last week — Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc impressed with strong runs at the end of Q2.

“Qualifying was pretty decent. I felt more comfortable with the setup and balance of the car. Until the last corner, I was potentially looking at second position, but understeer at Turn 16 cost me about a tenth,” Hamilton explained to Sky Sports.

The British driver expressed satisfaction with his improving relationship with technical team — a contrast from early season tensions over team radio with Riccardo Adami.

“The support has been incredible. Seeing British fans switch to wearing red and supporting Ferrari is amazing. My family is here too. Though starting a bit far back, with this amazing crowd, who knows what could happen tomorrow,” Hamilton added.
