Hamilton At Ferrari: Adaptation Improving, Yet Unsatisfied with Team Performance

Lewis Hamilton is showing encouraging progress in his adaptation to Ferrari. After a tough start to the season, the British driver has managed to close the gap with teammate Charles Leclerc.

His performance at the Miami Grand Prix marked a key improvement, where Hamilton successfully extracted more from the SF-25 and reduced the performance difference with Leclerc.

From Fiorano fanfare to reality check

The buzz surrounding Hamilton’s arrival in Fiorano three months ago — witnessed by nearly 7,000 fans — has gradually faded. However, the Italian tifosi remain patient and supportive, recognizing that adjustment takes time.

A look at the statistics still shows Leclerc’s dominance:

  • Qualifying: Leclerc leads 5–1

  • Race results: Leclerc leads 5–0

  • Points: Leclerc 53, Hamilton 41

Despite the improvements, Hamilton isn’t satisfied.

Don’t expect Hamilton to smile just because he beats Leclerc,” said one F1 analyst. “That’s progress, but not the goal — especially if it only results in P5 or P6.”

Victory remains the ultimate goal

For Hamilton, the true measure of success lies in winning races, not just outperforming a teammate. The seven-time world champion moved to Maranello with a bigger mission.

The next challenge comes this weekend at Imola, where Hamilton aims to build on his Miami progress — though he knows that won’t be enough to satisfy his own ambitions.
