Hamilton Experiences Rare Incident in Belgian GP Sprint Qualifying

Lewis Hamilton experienced an unexpected moment during Belgian GP sprint qualifying — his car spun out after locking rear wheels at the final chicane.

Former driver and Sky Sports F1 commentator Martin Brundle described the incident as highly unusual.

“His rear axle broke up under braking – highly unusual. I don’t think there’s anyone more surprised at that than Lewis Hamilton,” Brundle stated.

“First time I think in my career,” Hamilton said when asked about the rear locking. “Not great. There’s not really a lot to say.”

Anthony Davidson, former driver and Sky Sports analyst, offered a different perspective — expressing surprise that Hamilton appeared to take blame for the incident.

On the other side of the garage, Hamilton’s teammate Charles Leclerc will start the sprint race from fourth position, while McLaren’s Oscar Piastri secured pole position.
