Hamilton and Leclerc Unimpressed with Ferrari Floor Upgrade at Austrian GP

According to Formula1.com, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc haven’t seen major impact from Ferrari’s new floor upgrade after an underwhelming practice session at the Austrian GP.

Ferrari brought a completely revamped floor design to the Red Bull Ring — featuring changes to the body, edges, floor wing, and modified diffuser to improve aerodynamic load across various corner speeds.

Leclerc finished 0.6 seconds behind FP2 leader Lando Norris, while Hamilton was three tenths further back. Both drivers faced session limitations — Leclerc missing FP1 to accommodate a rookie driver, while Hamilton’s race simulation was restricted due to gearbox issues.

“It’s difficult for me to make any comments. Numbers-wise, the upgrade does what it’s expected to do, and I’m happy with that,” said Leclerc.

“We’re quite a way off. We’ll make some changes to get closer to the front, but we won’t be at the front,” added Hamilton.

Despite unimpressive lap times, the team’s long-run performance showed more promise — with Leclerc matching the pace of the fastest drivers during race simulations.
