According to Nikkan Sports, Hajime Moriyasu expressed his disappointment after the Japan national team lost 0-1 to Australia in the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers at ANZ Stadium, Perth.

“This is very frustrating and a disappointing result,” said Moriyasu.

A single goal from Aziz Behich in the 90th minute forced the Samurai Blue to return home empty-handed from Perth.

Despite the defeat, Japan still secured their ticket to the 2026 World Cup with 20 points — an uncatchable position in their group.

In this match, the 56-year-old coach gave opportunities to several new players to start.
