Hadjar suffers major crash in chaotic rain-soaked British GP

Isack Hadjar became the fourth driver to exit the chaotic British GP after colliding with the Mercedes driven by Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

The Racing Bulls driver explained via team radio that he couldn’t see the Italian driver’s car due to severely wet conditions. After hitting the Mercedes’ rear at Turn 9 — Hadjar was thrown into the gravel area and ultimately hit the track barrier, resulting in a yellow flag.

Fortunately for the Mercedes driver, Antonelli managed to continue racing despite a damaged diffuser. In this dramatic Silverstone GP, Hadjar joined three other rookies who had to return to the pits:

  • Franco Colapinto from Alpine
  • Liam Lawson from Racing Bulls
  • Gabriel Bortoleto from Sauber

“Honestly, I don’t really care because we’re quite far from where we want to be, so if it’s chaos we take it,” Hadjar stated after qualifying.

“It was very tricky, I mean, it’s very random. There were laps where I could brake. I felt like I was braking early, but the wind was pushing me and I was losing the car on entry,” he added explaining the qualifying session that placed him 13th.
