Häcken vs Brann: Europa League Prediction (07.08.2025)

On August 7, 2025, at 19:00 CET, the first leg of the Europa League qualification semi-finals will take place between Häcken and Brann. In the upcoming Scandinavian derby, bookmakers cannot identify a clear favourite, believing that home-field advantage levels the chances for the Swedish side. Let’s review the current form of the teams and give our prediction for the match.

Häcken

This season Häcken are far from their optimal form. The team is only in 10th place in the Swedish league, having collected just 22 points from 18 rounds. Their main problem is weak defensive play. Häcken do not look solid even at home. For example, in the league they have played 10 home games, conceding 23 goals while scoring only 18.

In Europa League qualification, Häcken have already passed two rounds. First, they narrowly defeated Spartak Trnava, and in the previous round, the Swedes unexpectedly eliminated Anderlecht, winning in a penalty shoot-out. Notably, the home win against Anderlecht (2–1) is their only victory in the last six games.

Brann

The Norwegian league is also at its midpoint, which allows us to assess the teams’ current form. Brann have played 17 matches in the national championship and look much more stable than their upcoming opponents. The club has 33 points, putting them in third place in the table. The team also plays attractive attacking football but has defensive issues, conceding more than 1.5 goals per match.

Unlike their opponents, Brann started in Champions League qualification from the second round, but could not put up respectable resistance against Salzburg — losing 1–4 at home and drawing 1–1 away.

Stats and Head-to-Head Record

There is no head-to-head history. The opponents will meet for the first time.

Prediction

In the Häcken – Brann match, we expect a productive game. Both teams are not reliable in defence but play well in attack. In this situation, betting on total first-half goals over 1 at odds of 1.60 looks interesting.
