Gustavo Almeida Set to Join Persija Jakarta Soon

Brazilian striker Gustavo Almeida — who is expected to join Persija Jakarta for the upcoming Liga 1 2025–2026 season — has not yet participated in the team’s first official training sessions.

Head coach Mauricio Souza confirmed that Almeida’s absence is due to personal matters, and emphasized that the club fully understands and supports the player’s current situation. Persija’s preseason training began in late June, as the squad prepares for a competitive domestic campaign.

Despite Almeida’s absence, Persija Jakarta has already welcomed the arrival of three other foreign signings, all of whom have joined the training sessions:

• Ryo Matsumura

• Carlos Eduardo

• Van Basty Sousa

Almeida, known for his physical presence and finishing ability, is expected to add firepower to Persija’s attacking line once he joins the team in the coming days.
