Pep Guardiola emphasizes the importance of Manchester City fans’ support ahead of their crucial match against Aston Villa at Etihad Stadium — a fixture that could prove decisive in the race for Champions League qualification.

The two teams, separated by just one point in the standings, are set to meet this Tuesday. Newcastle, Chelsea, and Nottingham Forest are also in contention for a top-four finish, adding to the pressure on the match.

“We desperately need our supporters from the first minute. Don’t wait — because sometimes we play slowly or not at our best, but right now we really need them,” said Guardiola in his pre-match press conference.

Unai Emery brings Aston Villa to the Etihad in strong form, following a commanding 4-1 victory over Newcastle last Saturday. Despite their Champions League elimination by Paris Saint-Germain, Villa remain determined in domestic competition. The team, however, hasn’t won a league match at the Etihad in 18 years.

Guardiola acknowledged Villa’s current form, highlighting their defensive solidity, structured play, and threat on the counterattack. Aston Villa have won 11 of their last 13 matches across all competitions — making them one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League.

The outcome of this fixture could be pivotal for both sides in the run-up to the season’s end, with Champions League spots on the line and very little margin for error.
