Indonesian women’s singles representative, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, had to end her journey at the 2025 Asian Championships after being defeated by South Korea’s Kim Ga-eun at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium, China.

The hour-long match marked Kim’s first victory over Gregoria — following nine previous encounters that had always ended in defeat for the South Korean player since the 2016 Asian Junior Team Championships.

The holder of Korea Open 2024 and Korea Masters 2023 titles displayed more confidence from the start of the match. In the first game, competition remained tight with both players trading points until 13-12 in Gregoria’s favor.

Kim managed to turn the tide by securing four consecutive points — although Gregoria managed to level the score at 17-17, the South Korean representative eventually closed the first game with a score of 21-17.
