Gonzalo proud to be compared to Real Madrid legend Raúl at Club World Cup

Gonzalo, Real Madrid’s 21-year-old forward, is showing impressive form at the FIFA Club World Cup — scoring four goals in five matches for Los Blancos.

The young striker currently shares the tournament’s top scorer position with Marcos Leonardo from Al Hilal and Ángel Di María from Benfica. His latest goal scored in the first half against Borussia Dortmund helped his team advance to the semifinals to face Paris Saint-Germain.

“They are comparing me with Raúl, a legend. If I can do half of what he did in this shirt, it will be more than a dream,” Gonzalo told reporters.

Real Madrid has long been searching for Raúl‘s successor — the legendary striker who scored 323 goals in 741 appearances before his record was broken by Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Team goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois emphasized the importance of preparation for the PSG semifinal — “PSG are a great opponent, current Champions League winners and they had a great season. It will be a hard game.”
