Global survey: United States becomes F1’s largest fan base

Coinciding with Formula 1’s 75th anniversary at the British Grand Prix, a new global survey reveals a significant shift in fan base — the United States has become the country with the largest representation in the sport.

The 2025 F1 Global Survey notes that 26% of respondents come from the Americas, with the United States dominating participation — a historic achievement for a championship that previously struggled to penetrate the American market.

This success proves the effectiveness of Liberty Media’s strategy since acquiring F1 eight years ago. Three circuits in Austin, Miami, and Las Vegas now attract global attention with each location’s unique characteristics.

US fan enthusiasm is reflected in statistical data:

  • 73% of US respondents plan to attend races in their country
  • 41% have witnessed a grand prix live
  • 61% actively engage with F1 digital content

The transformation in F1 content consumption is evident — US fans now follow the championship year-round through various digital platforms. Streaming series like Drive to Survive has successfully elevated driver popularity, transforming them into global icons with strong personal appeal.
