Giovanni Stroppa officially appointed as new Venezia coach

Giovanni Stroppa has been officially appointed as Venezia’s new head coach — replacing Eusebio Di Francesco who recently resigned from the club.

The Italian club moved quickly to find Di Francesco’s replacement and immediately appointed the 57-year-old coach with a one-season contract.

“Venezia FC announces the appointment of Giovanni Stroppa as head coach of the first team,” reads the club’s official statement.

Stroppa faces the challenging task of returning Venezia to Serie A — after the club’s relegation finishing 19th in the 2024-2025 season with only 29 points from 38 matches.

The new coach will immediately work with a squad that includes Jay Idzes, with the possibility of a contract extension if he succeeds in securing promotion to Serie A.
