Giovanna Day joins Japanese Volleyball League runner-up

US outside hitter Giovanna Day has officially joined NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki — one of the strongest teams in the Japanese Volleyball League for the 2025-2026 season.

The player, also known as Giovanna Milana or Gia — will strengthen the team that finished as runners-up in Japan’s top volleyball competition last season.

The transfer announcement of the 27-year-old athlete was made through the club’s official social media accounts on Friday (18/7).

“I feel very honored to be part of NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki,” Gia stated in her official statement. “Thank you for always supporting this club and welcoming me into the family. Let’s be great together!”

Before joining NEC Red Rockets, Gia played alongside Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi at Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks two seasons ago.
