Gilliland Leads NASCAR Practice at Hermanos Rodríguez Circuit

According to NASCAR practice results, Todd Gilliland dominated at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico City — setting the fastest lap time of 1:33.496 seconds in the second session.

The first session saw several incidents, including Noah Gragson’s crash that forced Front Row Motorsports to switch to a backup car. Michael McDowell led the initial session with a time of 1:34.024 seconds.

“Hopefully, I can just keep it within the walls of the race track and keep it on blacktop,” said Gilliland after setting the fastest time. “We’ve had some good speed when it comes to road courses, so it feels really good to be in the ball game with our Ford Mustang.”

Mexican driver Daniel Suarez — the only Mexican-born driver in the Cup Series — finished 12th in the first session and 9th in the second session.

The second practice session ran smoother with the exception of Ty Gibbs who spun after hitting the curbs. Ross Chastain followed in second position, followed by Gibbs, Ryan Blaney, and Chris Buescher — all faster than McDowell’s best time from the first session.
