Gerald Vanenburg wary of Malaysia ahead of ASEAN Cup U-23 2025

Indonesia U-23 national team coach Gerald Vanenburg expressed his vigilance towards Malaysia — the main rival in Group A of ASEAN Cup U-23 2025.

Vanenburg’s debut with the Young Garuda will take place against Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday evening — an initial step before facing Philippines and Malaysia in the group phase.

The Dutch coach acknowledges the long history of Indonesia-Malaysia rivalry — a competition that always heats up at both senior and age group levels.

“I think if you play in a tournament, you always try and give everything,” said Vanenburg.

Vanenburg’s team is determined to maximize points from the first two matches — crucial preparation before clashing with Malaysia which will determine the fate of Jens Raven and teammates in this tournament.
