Gerald Vanenburg reveals reasons for choosing three local coaches for U-23 national team

Gerald Vanenburg — Indonesia’s U-23 national team coach — has announced his decision to recruit three local coaches to join the Young Garuda team.

The three individuals — Zulkifli Syukur, Matias Ibo, and Muhamad Alimudin — were selected based on their quality and ability to contribute to Indonesia’s U-23 national team.

Interestingly, Zulkifli Syukur and Muhamad Alimudin previously had interviews with Indonesia’s senior national team coach, Patrick Kluivert — who ultimately chose only one local coach, Sofie Imam Faizal, as physical training assistant.

Currently, Zulkifli Syukur is managing Persela Lamongan in League 2, while Muhamad Alimudin serves as physical coach for Persebaya Surabaya.
