Gerald Vanenburg ready to lead Indonesia U-23 against Brunei in ASEAN Cup

Gerald Vanenburg begins his coaching era with Indonesia U-23 national team against Brunei Darussalam in the opening match of Group A ASEAN Cup U-23 2025.

The home fixture presents — an opportunity for Young Garuda to prove themselves after finishing as runners-up two years ago under Shin Tae-yong’s guidance.

In the same group, Philippines stunned Malaysia with a 2-0 victory — making Group A competition more intriguing.

“I’m satisfied with the current players at my disposal. We have many young players who certainly need to develop,” stated Vanenburg.

“I’m pleased with their quality and regarding senior players not joining — that’s not something I’m thinking about right now,” he added.

The Dutch coach decided not to call up several senior players including:
