George Russell Claims Canadian GP Pole Position, Verstappen Second

George Russell secured pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix after outpacing his rival Max Verstappen in an intense qualifying session in Montreal.

The competition between these drivers — who previously clashed at the Spanish GP resulting in Verstappen’s 10-place penalty — heats up again on Canadian soil.

Russell demonstrated impressive performance by setting a time of 1:10.899 — displacing Verstappen who had led the timesheet earlier. Meanwhile, championship leader Oscar Piastri from McLaren will start from third position.

  • Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) – P4
  • Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) – P5
  • Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) – P6
  • Lando Norris (McLaren) – P7
  • Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) – P8
  • Isack Hadjar – P9
  • Alex Albon – P10

The qualifying session was briefly halted when Albon’s Williams lost bodywork on the back straight. Yuki Tsunoda, originally in 11th position, must start from the back following a grid penalty for red flag infringement in FP3.
