Genesis has just unveiled the striking orange GMR-001 hypercar at the New York International Auto Show. This racing machine is designed for competition in WEC and IMSA Racing Series.

Luc Donckerwolke — Genesis Design Europe’s chief creative officer — incorporated Genesis’ signature design with iconic “two-line” lighting elements on both front and rear. The hypercar features a flat underbody plate for enhanced aerodynamic efficiency and integrated cooling systems.

Chassis development comes through collaboration with ORECA, while the V8 engine is being developed from the Hyundai i20 N Rally 1’s 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine technology. A standard hybrid system will complement the main power unit of this racing car.

The Genesis Magma Racing team has already begun its racing program with Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert in the European Le Mans Series — securing their first victory at the 4 Hours of Barcelona.

For the 2026 WEC season, the team will field Andre Lotterer and Pipo Derani as main drivers. Expansion plans into the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship will follow in 2027.
