Gene Haas rejects multiple Formula 1 team purchase offers

According to statements at Silverstone, Haas F1 team principal Ayao Komatsu revealed that Gene Haas has rejected numerous team purchase offers in the last 18 months — demonstrating the owner’s strong commitment as the team enters its tenth Formula 1 season.

Following challenging pandemic times and team leadership transition from Guenther Steiner, Haas F1 recorded significant improvement with seventh place finish last season — a stark contrast to 2023’s last place result.

Gene Haas will celebrate his team’s achievement by driving the VF23 car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed — an idea from Komatsu who noticed the owner’s enthusiasm during Miami Grand Prix.

“He really enjoys being the owner of the F1 team. Currently one out of ten, from next year one out of eleven. That’s such a privileged position to be in,” stated Komatsu.

Despite pressure from various parties interested in buying the team, Gene Haas has instead shown increased involvement — attending races and delving into technical aspects of the team he has built since 2016.
