Geek Fam Trashes Alter Ego to Reach MPL ID Season 15 Lower Bracket Final

Geek Fam became the first team to reach the Lower Bracket Final of MPL ID Season 15. They secured their spot by sweeping Alter Ego 3-0 in today’s playoff match.

While both teams entered the playoffs strong mechanically and without a huge gap in skill, Geek Fam remained a fan favorite to reach the Top 3, even after their loss to Onic ID yesterday.

Alter Ego, on the other hand, had raised some hopes with their surprise win over Bigetron earlier, suggesting they might challenge Geek Fam using similar tactics. However, the difference in strategic quality – from coaching and in-game leading – proved decisive.

Game 1 started intensely, but Geek Fam’s powerful draft composition overwhelmed Alter Ego throughout. Led by captain Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy on Kalea, Geek Fam closed the game in under 12 minutes (15-4).

Game 2 saw Alter Ego adopt aggressive tactics to counter Geek Fam’s Khaleed-Harith combo. After 12 minutes of back-and-forth fighting with Geek Fam slightly ahead late-game, a final team fight left Alter Ego’s exp laner Syauki “Nino” Fauzan in a 1v2 against Valent “Aboy” Agriansyah and Kenny “KennzyySkie” Ramadhan. Nino’s Phoveus eliminated Aboy, but it wasn’t enough to finish off Kennzyy, who turned the tide and secured the win for Geek Fam (19-16).

Game 3 featured Geek Fam using a surprise draft against Alter Ego’s determined play. Though struggling early, Geek Fam dominated mid-game and sealed the victory decisively (18-7 in 13 minutes).

Geek Fam now awaits the winner of today’s RRQ Hoshi vs. Onic ID match to determine their opponent in tomorrow’s (14/06) Lower Bracket Final.
