Geek Fam Clinches Last Upper Bracket Spot in MPL ID Season 15

The battle for the second Upper Bracket playoff slot in MPL ID Season 15 concluded today with Geek Fam defeating Bigetron in the first matchday of the Regular Season’s final week.

Both teams showcased solid performances over the past nine weeks, though their paths differed. Bigetron maintained consistent form since the start of the season, while Geek Fam struggled early on.

However, Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy and his Geek Fam mates quickly regrouped to revamp their strategies and steadily climbed from 7th place—the Regular Season elimination zone—to secure a spot between 2nd and 3rd in a remarkable turnaround.

In their previous encounter, Bigetron dominated Geek Fam with standout performances from Filipino duo Eman “Emann” Sangco and Dylan “Light” Catipon. Today, however, Geek Fam proved that they learned from past mistakes.

The match began with Bigetron overpowering Geek Fam in Game 1, leveraging a strong draft featuring Phoveus and Irithel. But Geek Fam, under the guidance of head coach Mark “Bluffzy” Reyes, quickly adjusted their strategy to tie the series 1-1.

The decisive Game 3 intensified as Bigetron’s Junisen “Anavel” Lo pressured objectives with his Hayabusa. Yet Baloyskie’s leadership steadied Geek Fam’s tempo, inspiring a comeback to secure a 2-1 victory.

This win guarantees Geek Fam a direct Upper Bracket semifinal berth alongside the league leader RRQ Hoshi. They now await the results of the remaining Lower Bracket qualifiers over the next two days, giving the team ample time to rest and prepare.
