Gattuso Denies Italian National Team Lacks Quality Players

Gennaro Gattuso has been officially introduced as the new coach of the Italian national team — replacing Luciano Spalletti who was dismissed after this June’s FIFA Matchday.

In his first press conference, the 47-year-old coach denied the notion that the Italian national team lacks quality players — a view often linked to Gli Azzurri’s failure to qualify for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

“This is a dream come true, I hope I can do it well,” stated Gattuso.

“I know this task isn’t easy but nothing in my life has been easy.”

“My staff and I know there’s a lot of work to be done but we know we can handle this task well.”
