Gasly Surprises Everyone with Qualifying Performance at British GP

Pierre Gasly revealed his astonishment after reaching Q3 at the British GP — an achievement he deemed unimaginable given Alpine’s difficulties throughout the weekend.

Alpine currently sits last in the constructors’ standings with 11 points — significantly behind Sauber who has accumulated 26 points. The team’s situation is further complicated by engine limitations at the power-demanding Silverstone circuit.

“We thought we’d be knocked out in Q1 because it’s been extremely difficult. We struggled so much throughout the whole weekend and we’re really not comfortable with it. But we tried a lot and tried to stick to our guns, just focus on our package,” stated Gasly.

Fortune favored Gasly — he will start from eighth position following penalties for Oliver Bearman and Kimi Antonelli. However, the French driver acknowledged the race would present significant challenges.

His teammate Franco Colapinto faced different circumstances — spinning at the final corner and hitting the wall during Q1. The team decided to start from the pit lane, taking the opportunity to change car components and add new engine units.
