Gary Rowett urges Oxford United to sign new players ahead of Piala Presiden

Gary Rowett has expressed his concerns to Oxford United management regarding the need for new players ahead of Piala Presiden 2025. The Championship promotion team’s coach — whose club is owned by Indonesian businessmen Anindya Bakrie and Erick Thohir — expects squad reinforcement before conducting their pre-season tour to Indonesia.

The U’s — who gained promotion last season — have yet to make any moves in the transfer market, despite the window being open for several weeks. This situation worries Rowett, considering the team’s performance that only managed to compete in the lower table with the existing squad.

“I hope we’re not too far away from new player agreements,” Rowett told Oxford Mail.
