Gary Rowett Surprised by Oxford United’s Piala Presiden 2025 Invitation

Oxford United manager Gary Rowett has expressed his surprise following his team’s invitation to participate in Piala Presiden 2025 — a tournament that marks a significant departure from their usual European preseason locations.

The English Championship side will join the competition alongside Indonesian clubs and other guest teams. Oxford United has been placed in Group A — alongside Arema FC and Liga Indonesia All Star.

Meanwhile, the other foreign guest team, Port FC from Thailand, will compete in a different group — joining Persib Bandung and Dewa United.

“This is quite unusual for us as we typically conduct our preseason in European countries,” stated Rowett.
